How to choose an outdoor sauna

Choosing a garden sauna starts with the terrain, access, and site preparation. The cabin shape and finishes count, but the order should only proceed after confirming the base, heating, power supply, and maintenance space. An indoor sauna should not be adapted for outdoor use without the manufacturer's authorization.

Compare shape, benches, and equipment

In the catalog, see Onyxia Cube, Onyxia Barrel, and the Gaïa versions. Rounded cabins and straight-lined cabins have different layouts. Compare the support surface, the position of the benches, and the space required to enter, open the door, and move around the exterior.

Confirm whether you intend to use the benches sitting or lying down. A stated capacity may correspond to a specific posture. Terraces, exterior benches, and glass surfaces must also be verified per reference: do not attribute the details of a photograph of one configuration to all models.

Exterior wood and preservation

Holl's describes Onyxia with ThermoWood, a thermally treated wood, while Gaïa sheets identify other woods depending on the model. Compare the material and the maintenance plan specific to each cabin. Suitability for outdoor use does not mean that the equipment can be left without inspection or maintenance.

Ask for instructions regarding surface protection, roofing, joints, and metal parts. Color and appearance may evolve with exposure to sun and rain. If you intend to preserve a certain finish, confirm the authorized treatment before buying varnishes or oils. Do not automatically apply the same product to the exterior, the benches, and the areas near the heater.

Prepare the complete installation

  • Measure the support area and the clearances provided in the manual.
  • Check the stability, leveling, and drainage of the site.
  • Consider the delivery route for the packages or modules.
  • Reserve space for assembly, door opening, and service.
  • Define the access path and surrounding lighting.
  • Confirm local installation conditions with the installer.

An existing garden base may not be prepared for the load and distribution of the supports. Present the installation manager with the drawing and weight of the supplied set, including equipment and intended use. If there are steps, narrow gates, or access limitations, resolve the logistics before ordering.

The heater is part of the choice

Confirm whether the heater is included or purchased separately. The Onyxia documentation distinguishes between heating options and supply; Gaïa versions also require confirmation of the set. A cabin price should not be directly compared with another that includes a heater, control unit, and accessories.

The heater must be compatible with the cabin, the installation, and the intended use. If the manufacturer allows electric or wood-burning alternatives for a given reference, request the complete authorized configuration; this does not mean that any heater or chimney can be adapted. The assembly and clearances must comply with both manuals.

Electricity, assembly, and first use

Plan the power supply with a professional and protect cable runs according to the design. The distance to the house and the exterior environment are part of this assessment. Do not choose the location based on allowing a temporary extension. Lighting and other components must also be covered in the overall installation.

Upon receipt, verify parts, glass, and accessories before starting assembly. Follow the manual's sequence, confirm alignment and connections, and obtain a demonstration of the control unit. Do not modify the ventilation to speed up heating. Keep the reference for the cabin and heater for consumables and future service.

Maintenance routine

Periodically inspect the structure, roof, drainage, door, and fixings according to the manual. Clean and dry the interior using the indicated method, turning off components before necessary operations. Observe the condition of the heater and stones according to the specific instructions. A routine adjusted to the location helps to detect trapped water or parts needing intervention early.

Frequently asked questions and purchase errors

Can I choose based only on the barrel or cube shape?

Also compare the benches, the support area, the heater, and what is included. The exterior shape does not describe the whole set.

Do all models include a heater?

Do not assume this inclusion. Request the written composition of the reference and the chosen options.

What should I send to request support?

Photographs of the site, base measurements, delivery route, heating preference, and intended reference. Avoid buying first and preparing for the installation later.

Explore the Norte Pool guide center and request support with your reference and installation details.

Consulted documentation

Consult the updated manual for the acquired reference. Its installation, compatibility, safety, and maintenance instructions prevail over the general guidance of this guide.
